How to Make Pizza on the Panini Press?

  • #3. Now take a full pound of pizza dough and split it into six equal pieces. For each part of the pizza, stretch out a new piece of dough. Try to make a shape like a full circle. When you will feel the dough, it will have elasticity. Still you have to stretch it further. You can wait a minute or 2 to make it bigger. The thinner dough is much better. It will ensure the fully cooked crust.
  • #4. In the next step you have to add some of your favorite sauce. Here pesto goes far better than any other. It has ingredients like sundried tomato and basil in it. The normal tomato sauce will be watery enough to make the pizza as the sticky crust. 
  • #5. Now use your favorite topping on the pizza. For this you can choose toppings having sturdier ingredients. Here you have full liberty of choosing your favorite. The toppings will be of those ingredients that can resist the high-temperature. You have to put the dough in an inch of a high heat source. So, be careful that you must not use fresh tomatoes or any other seasonal watery vegetables here. It will avoid high steam.
  • #6. Now transfer your pizza to the hot grilling device with care. When you finish try to close or lock the lid cover wherever you can.
  • #7. Ideally, you would like to use your Panini press like (Breville Panini Press)here. It will help you to fix the accurate height of the upper plate or cover. By this, you can confirm that the upper plate of the Panini press will be above the pizza dough when cooking is going on.

(If your press has no such facility you can remain your press cover open with some aluminum foil).

Recipe of pizza on the Panini press

Preparation time: 10 mins | Cooking time: 8 mins | Total time: 18 mins (for 1 pizza), Yield: 6 


  • 2 tbs of olive oil (extra virgin) OR any cooking oil
  • 1 Ibs of fresh dough of pizza, sliced into six portions
  • 1/3 cup sundried tomato pesto or basil pesto
  •  12 ounces sliced fresh mozzarella or shredded part-skim mozzarella
  •  Toppings: as per your wish


  • Heat your Panini press to high temperature. If your device has a tilt option, try to be sure that it remains flat.
  • To prepare a single piece of pizza, cut a small aluminum sheet of foil about the equal dimension of your press. Brush it properly with some olive oil (you may also use any cooking spray) on top of the surface. 
  • Now take the dough and try to stretch its circular form. Some elasticity will be there in your dough. Wait some time to stretch it far more. Thinner dough ensures the better cooking of the pizza.
  • Take some pesto to spread on the stretched out dough. Here you should add some cheese and other toppings. 
  • Move the whole aluminum foil on the Panini press and close the lid properly. Make sure the upper platter to hover about one ʺ above the pizza.
  • Start grilling the pizzas when you see the dough has become lightly browned. Here you should be thorough cooking. You may also have some bubble on the dough. The entire cheese will melt and the dough will be bubbly within 6 – 8 minutes. 
  • Make the slice of the hot pizza to serve it soon.
